نفس وما سواها
عبر ما سلف بين الجد والهزل
عبر ما سلف بالنفس   تحتدم
فإن ما عبر سجل قول و عمل
وإنما عبر السيف تسبق القلم
فبعض الجد أراه ﻻ يبدو معتدل
وبعد الجد أراه ﻻ يخلو من نهم
نهم الجد بالكدح  يﻻحق  اﻷمل
وألم الجد و الكدح  بعضه سقم
العاقل ينعته بالتزمت ذو  خبل
والجهل العلم قد  يبدله   بالنعم
وضي النجم بالدجى ركب  للسبل
والخلق على عجل مسيره العدم
نمني النفس بجنة نعيمها مكتمل
والنفس بالسوء تأمر إﻻ من رحم
أوان  الورد بالبوستان  قد إتصل
أو  إن الورد  بالبستان قد  هرم
يانفس مضناك من وجد منفعل 
والبدن مأواك منتهاه مرتع وخم
اتصاق النفس عدل بالفضل محتفل
و قول بغير  عمل  كأوتاد بﻻ خيم
تلتحف النفس بالبدن تشبث اﻷزل
والروح تطوق لفصلهما كالبان والعلم
لتصعد تحت العرش مستقرها اﻷزل
أو تحلق في تزاور لﻷحبة والنعم
وجل النفس من إثم القلب منه خجل
وعاتب النفس فيه وبالحق قدحسم
أيا نفسي و قد خلقتي  من  عجل
وحين التسرع أراكي تنكبي بالندم
مسراك ليﻻ تامل الكون بﻻ ملل
وفي السهد القلب  بالليل  يرتطم
أواه  منك و من لومك   المتصل
عتابك  ينصب  كأفواج  من  حمم
طوبى لك بإيابك السريع  المبتهل
وحسن مآب لقول بالفعل منسجم
الغرور لن تبلغ  به  طول الجبل
ولن تخرق اﻷرض ولوبجمع الهمم
فسبحانه جل من سواها  وعدل
فألهمها فجورها وتقواها ثم حكم
